Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation

  Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) is a unique organization formed as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) corporation to promote skill-development and entrepreneurship in the state of Andhra Pradesh. To achieve the goal of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship with coordinated efforts and convergence of services with Departments like Higher Education, School Education, Technical Education, Labour, Employment & Training, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has created a new department “Department of Skills Development and Training”.

Objective

To implement a structured and pragmatic solution to skill and upskill the workforce in the state of Andhra Pradesh and to increase employability, and promote entrepreneurship in synchronisation with Industrial growth of the state. 

Programmes

APSSDC is staffed with the best of talent in this sector and partnered with leading training providers and industries to carry out the training programmes. It aims to develop a best-in-class learning management system and placement and tracking mechanism. Ultimately, it aims to be among the best training provider organizations in the world. To achieve the objectives APSSDC established various training centres across the state in collaboration with different institutions and conducting a wide variety of programmes for improving skills at different stages of the education system starting from school education. These programmes are mainly classified in Academic and Non-Academic programmes.

 Skill Development Centers and University

     The newly created department is also for effective implementation of A.P. Employment of Local candidates in the Industries / Factories Act, 2019 with an intention to provide 75% employment to local candidates, for providing employment and livelihood to the local people as the industrialization of their respective areas is interfering with their livelihood. APSSDC now serves as the ‘Executive Agency’ for the newly formed Department of Skills Development and Training, it will also serve the important task of providing high-quality skilled manpower to industries. To make Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation the best skill development institution in India, government planning to further improve the skill development activities by establishing Skill Development University and High-end Skills University. Skill Development University, to impart job orientation training in the final lap of education for students. The High-end Skills University will provide advanced courses in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The government also plans to set up 25 Skill Development Centres across the State covering all Lok Sabha constituencies. All these centres function under the proposed Skill Development University. The university prepares a plan on the topics and subjects that will be covered at Skill Development Centres. The training will be planned according to industry needs. Reputed trainers, affiliating with world-renowned organisations will be part of the preparations.
